Music (Practice) Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma at Wigan & Leigh College
If you have a passion for music and would like a career in this exciting industry this course could lead you in the right direction. This qualification gives students the opportunity to study a wide range of popular music genres. If you enjoy performing and recording, this course is for you. Facilities include a theatre, ensemble rooms and a suite of recording and technology studios.
The course is delivered in module form, each one is designed to give you the knowledge and skills required to help you move towards a career in the music business. Some modules involve practical study of different styles and genres of popular music, and lead to live music events. Other areas of study include music technology, recording, singing, composition and arranging. Some modules such as the sound and music industry are designed to give you important knowledge of how the music business works and what career opportunities exist
A minimum of 5 A*-C/ 9-4 GCSE subjects or equivalent including maths or English
You will need to successfully pass an audition>
Assessment is through a balance of practical work, performances and written assignments. There are no formal examinations.

You will develop skills for both work and/or university. Many of our ex-students are currently enjoying successful careers as musicians, sound engineers and educators.
You will take part in a number of performances in College and at venues in the community.
