Course description

What will I study? A wide range of topics covering science in the everyday world and in the press. The course is designed to inform the citizens of the future. The topics studied will be: Biology – Understanding Ourselves, Understanding Our Environment, Living and Growing, and It’s a Green World. Chemistry – Carbon Chemistry, Rocks and Metals, The Periodic Table, and Chemical Economics. Physics – Energy For The Home, Living For The Future, Forces For Transport and Radiation For Life.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for an NVQ Level 1 or 2 in a related subject and depending on your other qualifications, you could progress onto courses leading to the Advanced GCE in Science or Applied Science. With further training, you could go into a job related to science such as a Laboratory Researcher, Science Technician or Pharmacist. You could also go straight into employment as the course is delivered through a work-based training programme, will help you develop the basic scientific skills, knowledge and understanding that employers across the science disciplines are looking for.
