History A2 GCE A Level at Weatherhead High School
The History course is designed to give students a good grasp of the most crucial periods of British and European History; those whose legacy will be with us always. Our British History course covers a period when the change that overcame our society was profound; two world wars, the first ever Labour government, the Great Depression and the rise of the Welfare State have left a deep and lasting impression on our national identity and our position in the world. Furthermore, the European section of the course offers an opportunity to build on the knowledge and skills of GCSE History by delving deeper into the most evil and devastating phenomenon that has ever been visited on the world Nazi Germany. There will be a special concentration on Anti-Semitism/the Holocaust at A2.

HY3 - Coursework
HY4 - 1 hr 40 min exam on British History, plus 50 min exam on Nazi Germany.
A History A Level is very highly regarded by both universities and employers. Politicians, lawyers and company directors are among those who commonly hold History degrees since Historians have an understanding of the contemporary world through their study of how it developed. Historians are valued for their ability to think and write logically and analytically.
