Design and Technology: Textiles at The Joseph Whitaker School

Course description

  A new A-Level option in 2013, this course continues to build on the skills developed during the GCSE Textile Technology course.

Students can study the course for one year at AS level or for two years at A2 level.

Students will continue to develop their designing and making skills through coursework projects.

A wider knowledge and understanding of materials used to make everyday products is developed during the course.

Visits to university degree shows and galleries are undertaken to improve students’ understanding of techniques and processes, and featuring artists.

Students are encouraged to use IT skills when appropriate, in order to develop a more professional appearance to design folders.

Both AS/A2 courses provide opportunities to develop creativity and innovation related to design and textile art, using new and exciting techniques that are developed from GCSE.

5 A*-C in GCSE subjects . Grade B in chosen subjects
