General Studies at Newmarket Academy

Course description

As its name suggests, general studies encourages thinking across a range of topics including science and technology, politics and sociology, arts and the media, business and industry, and beliefs and values. It is usually taken alongside a full complement of other A level subjects, drawing on the skills that students have developed elsewhere.

It fosters a sense of enquiry and develops critical thinking about interconnecting issues. It can help students develop arguements and draw conclusions from data. It can prove a useful preparation for higher education, work and life in general.
