Barbering Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 at New College Stamford

Course description

Gain the specialist skills you need to work in barbering through training on-the-job with an Apprenticeship. You will study units such as:Cutting and shaping facial hairShampooing and conditioningCutting hair using basic barbering techniquesYou may also need to study Functional Skills Maths and English Level 1, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) and Employment Rights and responsibilities (ERR) units to successfully complete your training.

Course content

You will carry out your training entirely in the workplace and undertake modules of study including both theory and practice. Home study will be required.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but your previous skills and experience will be considered upon application.


Some attendance at college may be required and an Assessor will also visit you in the workplace to carry out practical assessments and monitor your progress.

Financial information

16 – 18 years – Course 100% funded19 – 23 years – No contribution is required at this moment in time.(employers may wish to help towards the costs)24+ years – Not funded. Course costs payable by employer/individual but loans may be available through the 24+ Advanced Learning Loan scheme.

Future opportunities

Barbering Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 or employment.
