Geography A Level at Chesterfield High School

Course description

The course is taught and examined in units, two of which are required to attain an AS award and four to attain the A2 award. Nine lessons per fortnight are delivered with two units examined in Year 12 and two in Year 13. The two units taught in Year 12 to achieve AS Geography are Geog 1 ( which assesses units in Rivers, Coasts, Population and Health) and Geog 2 (which assesses Geographical skills) The two units taught in Year 13 to achieve A Level Geography are Geog 3 (which assesses units in Tectonic, Conflicts and World Cities) and Geog 4a (which assesses Geographical skills)

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements for Geography are grade B and above in Geography GCSE. Students are also required to achieve a grade B or above in English Language and Mathematics (Teacher recommendation could allow students on to the course should they fail to reach the necessary grade requirements in exceptional cases).
