Level 3 - Early Years Educator at Alliance Learning

Course description

The Early Years Educator qualification (EYE) came into force in September 2014. This takes over from the Children and Young People's Workforce level three qualification. The qualification is based on a credit value making up 64 in total. The qualification has 9 mandatory units making up 46 credits. The learner is then encouraged to choose optional units to meet their individual needs and job role, optional units must make up 18 credits.

Course content

All Level 3 Early Years Educator qualifications will require candidates to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of early years education and care, including that they can: Support and promote children’s early education and development Plan and provide effective care, teaching and learning that enables children to progress and prepares them for school Make accurate and productive use of assessment Develop effective and informed practice Safeguard and promote the health, safety and welfare of children Work in partnership with the key person, colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals

The learner will be assessed in their workplace via observation with the children/ parents / colleagues, they will also be required to complete assignments and professional discussions to complete knowledge based evidence. The framework consists of 1.EYE level three qualification ( as above) 2.Employment Rights and responsibilities 3.Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) 4.ICT Functional Skills level 2

Entry requirements

GCSE's A - C in English and Maths

Interested candidates should have the following skills & interests.... • A warm, caring, patient nature • Good communication skills • A sense of responsibility • A consistent and fair approach • A sense of humour • To be physically fit • To have creative ideas • An awareness of safety and hygiene • To be able to work in a team


You will be required to sit an English, Maths and ICT initial assessment before starting the Apprenticeship programme to check you are at a suitable level.
