BTEC Level 2 Fashion at Ormiston Forge Academy

Course description

Students are encouraged to confidently create independent project work that will begin by building on your practical skills and exploring ideas and techniques before going on to incorporate this experimental work into considered design solutions.

The course will consist of workshop sessions (where new techniques/ approaches will be taught), 1:1 guidance with staff, and discussions where we will analyse our own work and the work established artists and designers. Students are encouraged to keep up to date with the latest developments and trends in art and design.

You will study three units over the year covering a range of design related subjects, including fashion illustration, production and decorative techniques, pattern drafting and CAD (computer aided design), as well as exploring the work of past and present designers, and artists. Challenging project work will enable you to develop your creative and technical skills in Fashion and Textiles.

On successful completion of the course you can progress onto an appropriate Higher Education programme in your chosen specialisation or you could seek employment in the field.
