Health and Social Care BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma at Farnham College

Course description

The one year course has been designed to prepare students for work in a variety of health and social care settings.

Health and Social Care is a very popular and successful at Farnham College, including frequent contact with professionals working in the health and social care sectors and with children.

You should have an interest in Health and Social Care, enjoy communicating with a range of people and want to make a difference to people's lives in a positive way.

You should enjoy meeting people in a range of practical situations and getting involved with delivering care.

On successful completion of the 90 Credit Diploma, you could complete the full Extended Diploma.

Course content

Subjects include

  • communication
  • equality of opportunity
  • development across all ages
  • anatomy and physiology and complementary therapies.

The course includes 100 hours of practical work placement over the two years duration. This enables you to apply what you learn in the classroom into working in a real care setting.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English, or a Level 2 at merit or above.

You will also need a clear enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which you are required to pay for at the start of the course.



Teachers will set assignments throughout your course. These may take the form of projects, presentations, written work or research assignments. The important thing is that you evidence your skills and knowledge acquired to date.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the 90 Credit Diploma, you could complete the full Extended Diploma.

The full Extended Diploma enables you to move directly into the workplace or onto a higher education couse in a health or care related discipline.

It provides opportunity for entry into professions such as teaching, nursing or professions allied to medicine.
