IT and Telecoms Professional Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at Northumberland College

Course description

Any person who works in the IT Industry who would like to develop their skills and knowledge to become competent in their chosen job role. Individuals who are new to the industry and require a complete training package would normally follow the traditional Apprenticeship route. This usually comprises of some training at College and some training and assessment in the work place.

Course content

You will study units including helping companies set up new systems, configuring networks and network management. Ideal if you work in an IT role and want to gain a higher level qualification.

Entry requirements

You should have four GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and Maths or a relevant Level 2 qualification and be employed in an office environment.


Throughout the Apprenticeship as skills and knowledge are developed and evidence of this gathered, progress will be assessed by the course team. Evidence may be gathered in many different ways including: * Written * Research * Practical activity * Group work * Discussion * Observation of activity * Photographs * Witness statements * And a variety of other methods Additional work based assessments will be carried out by our ICT Work Based Assessor.

Future opportunities

Having completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship, apprentices may then progress on to a Level 4 Apprenticeship, or continue to work and undertake a range of professional job-specific qualifications and training. Some apprentices may elect to continue their technical studies and embark upon job-specific professional/vendor qualifications (for example: with Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, VM Ware or CompTIA). Progression to the Level 4 would be recommended to enable the achievement of further nationally recognised qualifications and technical training, whilst remaining in employment. Alternatively, apprentices may elect to return to full-time education, and to complete A-Levels, the IT Diploma, BTECs or an equivalent qualification.
