Introduction to Animal Nursing and Welfare - Level 2 and 3 at Askham Bryan College

Course description

This one year course combines Animal Management with Animal Nursing. The combined programme enables students to develop underpinning knowledge of the physiological workings of the animal in addition to basic health care, treatment and prevention of disease.

• Animal biology • Nutrition and feeding • Husbandry • Introduction to animal nursing • Infection control • Prevention and treatment of disease • Maths where applicable

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements: 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above (old GCSE grading C or above) to include English Language with Maths or Science, plus two weeks of work experience with suitable references in any animal related placement.


A small portfolio of work-related skills forms part of the assessment of this course, along with examinations, tests, assignments, presentations and practical assessments.
