Course description

This course has been designed to provide you with the opportunity to gain detailed academic knowledge and understanding of the travel and tourist industry. You have the opportunity to work in the industry which is one of the largest industries in the world. Work experience is an important part of your course which allows you to gain first-hand experience and knowledge.

WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE?

There is an emphasis on coursework as a means of demonstrating your competence and you will work on guided assignments with the opportunity for some practical work. The course is assessed by research-based assignments most of which are internally set and one is an externally set assignment.

IS THIS COURSE FOR ME?

Students who are interested in the travel and tourism industry but who do not have enough GCSE’s to get on to the Level 3 Diploma programme will benefit from this course.

Entry requirements

4 GCSE’s at Grade D/E or above

Students are required to be self-motivated, disciplined and to take a degree of responsibility for their own learning

Success college interview.

Assessment

The course presents good opportunities to gain greater knowledge of the Travel and Tourism Industry by means of research, visits and practical sessions.  You are assessed by means of internally set assignments.

Future opportunities

You can progress onto BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary, 90Credit or Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism. The course also prepares you with the background knowledge and experience to work in a number of travel, tourism, Leisure and Recreation sectors.
