Technical Support in IT Level 3 at Burford School and Community College

Course description

This course will suit students who are planning to go on to further education or looking for a future in IT or business. The British Computer Society believes that “these qualifications provide an appropriate level of knowledge and skills to meet a broad range of IT needs. The qualification also supports learners wishing to progress to a range of university IT related degree programmes that lead to professional careers.”
In addition to developing their IT skills, students taking this course will develop their time management and organisational skills as well as their ability to work independently.
AQA Level 3 in IT for User Support largely consists of: written assignments, practical activities and observations. The Foundation Award is made up of four units, two of which are examinations (representing 50% of the qualification) covering a broad range of computer-related technology whilst the remainder are assignments. The course requires 360 Guided Learning Hours and units are graded Pass, Merit
or Distinction.

Entry requirements

Grade 4 in GCSE Mathematics and Grade 4 in GCSE English Language.


This course consists of written assignments that need to be completed to deadlines and is suitable for students who can sustain dedication and self-motivation throughout a two year period.
