Engineering Level 3 at North Hykeham Joint Sixth form

Course description

The BTEC Level 3 Certificate offers a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the appropriate vocational sector. The BTEC Level 3 Certificate is a qualification which can extend a learner’s programme of study and give vocational emphasis. The first three units, which are covered in year 12, form a qualification that is equivalent to an AS Level. These will include Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace plus two optional units.

If students choose to continue into Year 13 to gain a qualification equivalent to an A Level, units will be chosen to reflect the interests of the students taking the course and the specialism's of the staff delivering the course. The course has no exams and is 100% portfolio work. You must have a strong interest in engineering and you need to have a good attendance, be an independent learner and be prepared to work hard both within and outside of lessons.
