Sport at Brixham College

Course description

A qualification in GCSE or Level 2 BTEC Physical Education is desirable to undertake this course. Students should also have a keen interest in Sport and actively take part in Sport outside the College.

This Cambridge Technical qualification requires a number of skills due to the diverse nature of the course. Strengths in independent learning are desirable as the course is 100% coursework assessed. An ability to analyse, discuss and argue is required when studying all modules. An ability to build skills and develop a knowledge and understanding in Sport would further enhance a career in this area.

This is a vocational style of course which does not have an assessed practical performance element but does allow for practical based activity within each of the units.

This is a non-examination course equivalent to 1 A-Level. It is assessed in the form of coursework which is graded at pass (A-Level grade E), Merit (A-Level Grade C), or Distinction (A-Level Grade A). The physiology of Fitness; Current issues in Sport Sports; Coaching Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sports; Outdoor Adventurous Activities or Practical Individual Sports; Fitness Training; Programming Leadership in Sport.

Entry requirements

To join our Sixth Form you will have a minimum of 5 A*-C grade GCSEsincluding Maths and English. Preferably a grade B or higher in the subjects you wish to study
