AS Level course content:
Unit one Options D5 (Civil RIghts in the USA 1945-68) and D7 (Politics, Presidency and Society in the USA 1968-2000)
Unit two Option C2(Britain 1860-1930: The Changing Position of Women and the Suffrage Question)
A2 Level course content:
Unit three Option B1 (France Revolution, Empire and Restoration (1789-1830)
Unit four (coursework) Option CW 28 (The Making of Moden Russia 1856-1964)
Active learning means you will be involved in group presentations, using ICT, as well as "traditional" lectures and textbooks and individual study. You will enjoy analysing, questioning, debating, communicating - all transferable skills, valuable in the workplace and for further study.
Grade B pass in History or English at GCSE
2 x AS Uniits(external exam in June) contributing 25% each to full A Level.
1 X A2 unit (coursework internally assessed & externally moderated, contributing 20% to full A Level
1 x A2 unit (external June exam) contributing 30% to full A Level
You could take this course with other advanced level courses or equivalent to prepare for higher education in History or related subjects such as English, American Studies, Politics , Archaeology or more general courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to History by seeking employment in areas of heritage such as working for a museum or within education such as a teacher. The course will also help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
History is widely recognised by the elite Russell Group Universities as one of the most academic and therefore valued A Levels. Accordingly it provides access to a wide range of Universtiy courses including Law, Business, Journalism & Medicine.
History graduates also go on to successful careers in Industry, Education and Law.
Lessons in The Trinity Sixth Form are taught in two blocks, a morning and an afternoon, with a flexible lunchtime in between. Some students will find that all of their subjects will be taught in the same school, while others may choose subjects taught in another school.
Transport will be provided free during the lunchtime, so you don't have to worry about getting from morning to afternoon classes. Free before and after transport is also available to and from your home school if required.
