Course description

The Salters courses offer an innovative approach to the teaching and learning of chemistry through its modern applications. Chemistry is the study of the properties and reactions of substances, therefore all thirteen themes are delivered through practical based activities. Themes include: Developing fuels & Oceans The atmosphere Agriculture Medicines Materials Chemistry is a challenging, but rewarding course and students will find that it complements AS Biology. Chemistry is also compatible with subjects such as physics, maths, geography, environmental science, psychology.

Entry requirements

Achieved grade BB or higher at GCSE Double Science or minimum grade C in Chemistry from single science with at least CC in Biology and Physics. Have a high level of mathematical competence, B grade or better ideally.

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses, which overlap with Chemistry such as Biology, Applied Science, Physics, Geography, Geology or more general subjects that may not relate to the sciences, to prepare for higher education. With further training, you could go into a job related to Chemistry or one of the other sciences such as a Doctor, Nurse, Scientist or Pharmacist. The course will also help you to develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
