Computing at The Sixth Form College Colchester
This is a varied course in which students study a range of topics from the workings of a processor and logical circuit design, to different types of software and programming, as well as how data is stored and transmitted across networks.
The practical work initially covers basic programming skills and quickly progresses onto the use of graphical programming in preparation for the A Level project.
Students are expected to have achieved a grade B (or 5) in both GCSE Mathematics and GCSE Core and Additional Science (or B,B from single subject sciences or B,C,C in triple science) and a grade C (or 4) in English or English Language. If ICT or computer Science has been taken at GCSE or equivalent, a grade C will be required. For those taking vocational Level 2 ICT qualifications a Merit or above is required.
