Art and Design - Illustration BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Hull College Group

Course description

This course is about stretching your imagination and developing visualising skills in illustration.

Areas covered will include visual storytelling, commercial advertising, and graphic image making.

This is a studio based course that encourages the exploration of a broad range of creative media, including drawing, painting, photography and digital media, print and 3D.

Throughout the course there are core units in drawing and art history.  Organised study visits to galleries and commercial illustration / design companies are also built into the course to build your knowledge and industry awareness.

• Drawing, Mixed Media & Photography
• Painting
• Printmaking
• Computer Aided Design
• Research and Theory

All students will partake in all of the elements of the Study Programmewhich include:

  • Vocational Studies English and Maths
  • Additional learning goals 
  • Individual learner reviews
  • Work experience
  • Directed Personal Study

Additional vocational work will be set for students to work on in studio’s as Directed Personal study, outside of the above timetabled sessions.

Entry requirements

  • 3 GCSE’s at grade C or above, English and Maths requirements discussed at interview.
  • A portfolio of art and design work, and supporting written work

Financial information

Equipment and materials may have to be supplemented by purchasing additional material.

Future opportunities

Learners will have produced a professional portfolio of creative work which will facilitate entry to a specialist Higher Education course at Degree Level or a Creative Apprenticeship.
