Sociology A level at Cannock Chase High School

Course description

Sociology is the study of the relationship between the individual and society. Have you ever wondered why people exhibit certain behaviour? Who commits crime and why? How do we become the people that we are? At A Level we study the theoretical frameworks and methods that are used by sociologists to study social behaviour. 

Course content

Paper 1: Education with Theory and Methods

•        Written two hour exam

Paper 2: Topics within Sociology: families and Households and Beliefs in Society

•        Written two hour exam

Paper 3: Crime and Deviance with Theory and Methods 

•        Written two hour exam

Entry requirements

GCSE English and Maths (C+) 


You will complete a minimum of two graded essays per half term. Assessments will be based on content and exam technique in order to prepare students fully for the exams.
