Course description

AS and A2 units and content: AS: ICT and society, ICT and organisations, data handling A2: Advanced spreadsheet design, publishing, project management

Entry requirements

A grade B or above in GCSE ICT is required.

Future opportunities

ICT is used in many aspects of many jobs and is a starting point for: Computer programming, software development, hardware development, technical support, project management and website development, however, it is becoming an integral part of most peoples working lives and very few jobs require no ICT skills. You could take this course with other advanced level courses or equivalent to prepare for higher education, BTEC Higher Nationals or NVQ Levels 3 and 4 in areas of information and communication technology or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to ICT such as a Web Designer, IT Technician or Software Programmer. You could go also go straight into a job as the course will provide you with a good knowledge and understanding of ICT that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
