English at ALDRIDGE SCHOOL - A SCIENCE COLLEGE

Course description

We offer a stimulating and varied GCSE course. Pupils will have the opportunity to study a range of texts including: short stories, poetry, Shakespeare, non fiction/media and drama. Speaking and listening skills will be developed and assessed through a variety of tasks that count toward their final GCSE grade. Pupils will complete four coursework pieces including imaginative writing. Pupils following the OCR course will be entered for both English Language and Literature providing that all the necessary work has been completed. It is expected that two GCSE qualifications will be attained by these pupils. OCR English Language (1900), examination on media text 30%, examination on literary text 30%, course work (written) 20%, course work (oral) 20%, OCR English Literature (1901), examination on prose, poetry and drama 70%, course work 30%
