History A Level at Stanley Park High School
This course is for students who enjoy history and want to study it at a higher level. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to understand different historical themes and analyse and interpret evidence; you will have excellent writing skills and will be able to present a coherent argument.
This qualification is designed to foster the development of critical and reflective thinking with an understanding of historical topics and issues; and to encourage an awareness of the importance of historical awareness in explaining contemporary issues.
Students have the opportunity to learn the history of political, economic and social changes of British and American societies in the twentieth century as well as studying the origins of witchcraft. Coursework is to enable students to develop skills in the analysis and evaluation of interpretations of history in a chosen question, problem or issue as part of an independently researched assignment.
