Course description

Why study Mathematics?

What does the course involve?

AS

Core Maths 1: Algebra and functions; coordinate geometry in the (x, y) plane; sequences and series; differentiation; integration.

Core Maths 2: Algebra and functions; coordinate geometry in the (x, y) plane; sequences and series; trigonometry; exponentials and logarithms; differentiation; integration.

A2

Core Maths 3: Algebra and functions; trigonometry; exponentials and logarithms; differentiation; numerical methods.

Core Maths 4: Algebra and functions; coordinate geometry in the (x, y) plane; sequences and series; differentiation; integration; vectors.

We also offer Further Mathematics

All students must take a total of 6 units.

Further Pure Maths Unit 1 (FP1), FP2, FP3

Additionally three applied units chosen from Mechanics 1 and 2, Decision 1 and 2, Statistics 1 and 2

OR FP1, FP2 or FP3 plus an additional 4 units from those above.

For those students who know what they are going to study at university and would like to specialise in either Mechanics or Statistics, then units M3-5 and S3-5 might be available to study.
