Hairdressing NVQ Entry Level 3 at Sandwell College

Course description

The course is aimed at people who have an interest in hairdressing but no formal qualifications.

Course content

You will work in a state-of-the-art salon assisting advanced-level learners. Units studied will include how to present yourself professionally, blow drying and shampooing. The course is 5 months long with in-year progression in February to the Level 1 Certificate course, which will reinforce your knowledge and skills.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but you will need to attend an interview and assessment prior to being accepted on the course.




All practical work is assessed in our professional training salons; you will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence including photography of your work, written projects and online quizzes.

Future opportunities

Progression from this course and the Level 1 would be to Hairdressing NVQ, Level 2, dependent on ability. You could also start a hairdressing apprenticeship or seek employment as a junior/assistant stylist in the hairdressing industry.
