Electrical and Electronic Engineering Extended Certificate Level 3 at Bradford College

Course description

The Electrical and Electronic Engineering Extended certificate is equivalent in size to three A levels.

This qualification is ideal if you are wanting to progress to employment in electrical and electronic engineering, for example, as a power engineering technician.

You will gain the skills and knowledge required by studying a range of units such electronic devices and circuits, power and energy systems, printed circuit board design and manufacture, microcontrollers and/or calculus.

Course content

You will study four units, two of which are double.

Of these units, three are mandatory:

  • Engineering Principles (double unit)
  • Delivering Engineering Processes Safely as a Team
  • Engineering Product design and manufacture (double unit).

The remaining unit is:

Computer Aided Design in Engineering.

Entry requirements

A range of achievement at Level 2, in GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, including English, mathematics and science.


  • Continuous assessment
  • An external awarding body exam
  • An external awarding body set assignment.
