French at The Sixth Form College Colchester

Course description

This course will help students to build upon the skills gained at GCSE. The AS course will help students to learn about the mehanics of the language, and to find out more about topics based on themes such as social issues, politics and history. By the end of the year students will have acquired extensive knowledge of one 'work' such as a film or novel. Students will explore the social and cultural context of the language via texts drawn from textbooks, magazines, newspapers and relevant websites. There may be an opportunity for students to take part in a French trip in order to practise their language skills in an authentic context. The examinations cover the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. 

Entry requirements

Previous study is essential and a minimum of a grade B in GCSE French required.
