Creative Media Production BTEC Level 3 Award at The Whitehaven Academy

Course description

This is an interactive media course and you will be working as designers and develop design skills in web, print, mobile, video and gaming. You will become advanced users of a range of software in the Adobe CC Creative Suite, including After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign alongside 3D Studio Max, Maya and basic web programming tools.

Typical units on offer may include (subject to change):

  • Computer Games Design
  • Interactive Magazine Design for the iPad
  • Website Design
  • Critical Studies
  • Motion Graphics & TV Idents
  • Live Brief set by external interactive media company
  • Work Experience
  • 3D Animation & Environments
  • 2D Animation
  • Specialist Option Unit

Entry requirements

You would, ideally, have a background and interest in one of the following areas: Media, ICT, Art, Technology, Design and a good understanding of Mathematics.

Assessment

You will be assessed though an on screen assessment and unit assignments that are set by your classroom teacher.

Future opportunities

On completion of the Post-16 course students are able to move into a variety of different pathways. Because of the high pace of technological change, there are new university courses and new job opportunities being developed every day. The following areas are current examples of where students are able to progress to: games design and development, web and graphic design, 3D animation, computer science, digital media, motion graphics, post–production and special effects, interactive media.
