BTEC Health & Safety (Subsidiary Diploma)Level 3 at Chichester High School for Girls

Course description

The single award is the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 subsidiaryDiploma and is broadly equivalent to one GCE A Level. Thedouble award is the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma and isbroadly equivalent to two A Levels. Both courses providemuch of the underpinning knowledge for the NationalOccupational Standards in Health and Social Care/Healthand consequently act as a robust introduction to bothsectors. They prepare learners for employment in thesectors or for Higher Education.

The BTEC students have the opportunity to achieve a Pass,Merit or Distinction for each unit covered. Students will beasked to complete short projects and assignmentsindividually and working with others.

Course content

Students will study 6 units across the two years:

Unit 1:Developing effective communication

Unit 2:Equality, diversity and rights

Unit 3:Health, safety and security

Unit 4:Developing through the life stages

Unit 5:Anatomy and physiology

Unit 6:Caring for children & young people

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above.
