Course description
This BTEC course is ideal for you if you are interested in a career within the health sector whether it's nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy or paramedics and social work.
It will equally benefit those wishing to pursue a career within a care home or residential setting.
Course content
The BTEC first course is made up of the following topics;
- Diversity,
- Anatomy and Physiology,
- Communication,
- Individual rights/needs,
- Vocational experience,
- Human lifespan development,
- Nutrition and Health.
Entry requirements
Four GCSEs at Grade D/3 or E/2 or above or Level 1 vocational qualification and suitable reference.
A successful interview.
Assessment
To pass this course you will be assessed via course work, some external examinations and practical assignments.
Future opportunities
On completion of this course with a minimum of a merit, excellent attendance and punctuality, as well as English attainment you will be allowed to progress onto the National Diploma Level 3 course, following a successful interview
Further information
This course is full time and you will be expected to attend 100% of the time. You will also be expected to attend your placement at all times.
You will be asked to pay for and complete an enhanced DBS check when you enrol on the course. This will be needed in order for you to attend placement. You will also need to make payments for your uniform and an annual trip.
Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course, your chosen vocation and life. Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes.
If you haven't achieved an A*/9 - C/4 grade in English or Maths at GCSE, or a Level 2 Functional Skill, you will also be working towards a qualification in English or Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades.
