Geography GCSE at The Beacon School

Course description

Students will follow a course which provides a balance between human and physical geography. Human Geography includes the study of urban landscape, life in towns and cities, transport, industry, agriculture, development, economics and tourism. Physical Geography concentrates upon the natural world around us, how it is formed and the processes which shape the landscape. Contemporary environmental issues are also studied in this part of the course.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Geography or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to geography such as a Weather Forecaster, Teacher or Travel Agent You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
