Creative & Digital Media Advanced Apprenticeship at West Herts College

Course description

This advanced apprenticeship covers roles across the creative and digital media industries including TV, film, digital graphics and photo imaging. This is a great foundation for many job roles including production and editing to camera work, interactive media and photography.

Employers look for work-ready people who have strong English, maths and IT skills and a good understanding of what it takes to work their way up in creative media. This course prepares you for this work.

Course content

During this apprenticeship you may be working as a production runner, a production assistant, a digital assistant, an assistant to the camera crew, an editing assistant or as a production secretary. You will develop an understanding of the end to end production cycle in relation to different platforms. You and your employer will be able to tailor your programme selecting a combination of options including production, editing, interactive media, audio-visual journalism, camerawork, set design and photo imaging.

The qualification is achieved by gaining practical experience at work. You will also be required to achieve a Level 2 award in English, maths and ICT and complete a workbook relating to employment rights and responsibilities.

Entry requirements

Employment at a suitable level - most employers ask for GCSEs in English and maths, but may have additional specific requirements.

Future opportunities

Following the successful completion of your apprenticeship you may be able to progress to higher education in digital media, photography or similar courses or join this exciting industry in jobs roles from production and editing to camera work, interactive media and photography.
