Mathematics at The Bramcote College

Course description

During the course you will study four pure Mathematics modules and two applied modules. The pure Mathematics modules (Pure Core 1, Pure Core 2, Pure Core 3 and Pure Core 4) are compulsory and build upon your GCSE number and algebra skills. There are six applied Mathematics modules (two each of Decision Mathematics, Mechanics and Statistics) from which you would choose two.

The choice of applied Mathematics modules is made in consultation with the class depending upon their strengths. In Statistics you would build upon your GCSE handling Data skills; in Mechanics you would study movement in one and two dimensions, forces, Newton’s Laws of Motion and projectiles; in Decision Mathematics you would study algorithms, networks and linear programming.
