Music A-Level at Windsor High School and Sixth Form

Course description

This course is quite simple in design but comprehensive. It is intended to be stimulating and enriching for students. The course provides a great opportunity for all of those who enjoy music in general, who have an extreme passion for listening, composing, analysing and performing music. During this course you will have the opportunity to develop your musical skills to a high level through solo / ensemble performance, composing, music analysis, history and harmony writing.

Edexcel's Music course covers composing, performing, listening and understanding, to provide an excellent basis for lifelong learning and for higher education courses in music.

Entry requirements

Students need to demonstrate evidence of a positive, self-motivated approach to learning and a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above in five different subject areas (including English and Maths).

Students would benefit from studying music GCSE (or similar level 2 qualification). A knowledge of Music Theory is also very useful.
