Further Maths A2 Edexcel

Course content

What does the AS course include?

The AS course comprises of modules similar to the Mathemathics A Level course but in more depth. Most students continue to complete the full A2 Course.

What does the A2 course include?

This is as it suggests, it is more Mathematics. There are six modules to complete that go further into each of the areas described in Mathematics.

Entry requirements

Pathway 1: 4 A levels

•        5 A* to C Grades in GCSEs, including Maths and English, and meeting any subject specific requirements (see below)

Pathway 2: A combination of A levels and Level 3 Vocational Courses

•        5 A*to C Grades (Merits in BTEC and Vocational Courses) and meeting any subject specific requirements (see below)


Each module is assessed by a written paper.

Each written paper lasts for 1 hour 30 mins.

The Core 1 paper is a non-calculator assessment, though all other exams allow the use of a calculator.

Each module contributes equally towards the overall grade.

Will it suit me?

To enrol on this course, students should have at least a strong A grade in their GCSE Maths and opt to take Maths A Level.
