Course description

A level Mathematics is a qualification that is highly prized by employers and universities alike and it offers excellent support to a wide range of other subjects as well as being an interesting subject in its own right. The content includes work on pure maths (with a focus on advanced algebra and trigonometry) and statistics.

Entry requirements

A grade A* or A (or grades 7,8,9) in GCSE Mathematics is the normal requirement for those taking AS Mathematics. If you achieve a grade B (or 6) it is recommended that you take AS Statistics.

Students who achieve a grade B (or 6) but who feel they might need Mathematics for a possible degree course will be considerd if they pass an algebra and trigonometry test at Enrolment.

The test is to identify that students have mastery of the work at GCSE. Successful students will then also be required to take the Edexcel Algebra Award as a 5th subject.
