Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Education) Level 3 Diploma at Northampton College

Course description

This qualification is designed to help students build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth to 7 years. The course covers a variety of units giving an in-depth understanding of the health and education needs of children including the Early Years Foundation Stage. The method of learning is by a mixture of classroom based activity and work placements. The CACHE Level 3 Diploma gives the student a broad educational foundation for employment and careers in many areas within Early Years. You will spend 2 days a week in a work placement, building up a Personal Placement Record, plus block weeks. And is structured around four themes: - Theme 1: Health and well-being - Theme 2: Legislation, frameworks and professional practice - Theme 3: Play, development and learning for school readiness - Theme 4: Professional development

Course content

All those who wish to work at an unsupervised level in the childcare workforce or wish to progress to Higher Education.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and Mathematics or CACHE Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education and Care plus GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C.

Assessment

It will be internally and externally assessed by a range of methods. This will include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by CACHE.
