IT User Advanced Apprenticeship in ICT at Bromley College of Further & Higher Education

Course description

The IT User Apprenticeship is ideal for people aged from 16 who are employed and using IT on a regular basis.

College attendance is on a day-release basis and assessment will take place in the workplace and classroom.

Students are required to build a portfolio of evidence to prove their skills, understanding and knowledge of the subject.

Training is provided through distance learning, tutorials and classroom delivery.

Course content

What you will study:
  • ITQ Diploma at Level 3
  • Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Mathematics
  • Employer Rights and Responsibilities.

 The ITQ demonstrates competence in the use of IT in a real environment. It consists of a number of units which suit the employer/employee.


Entry requirements

The apprentice must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours a week in a suitable role which demonstrates competence.

They must also be able to

  • attend college on a part time basis.
  • hold the Level 2 Apprenticeship in ICT: IT User qualification


  • be able to demonstrate appropriate knowledge and understanding.

All applicants will be assessed in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT.

There must be a line manager committed to on-the job training who will liaise with College staff.


Course assignments, discussions, observations and practical sessions in the workplace/classroom. Functional Skills testing.

Financial information

Training on the Apprenticeship Programme for 16-18 year olds is fully funded by the Government.

You can progress towards higher education or employment.
