Course description

 

A Level Economics is a fast paced, challenging course which will give you the knowledge and skills you need to study at a higher level and gives a good foundation for a business or management related degree. The course concentrates on the micro and macro elements of economics and is excellent as a starting point for a career in any sector.

AS Economics Year includes:

  • How markets work and why they fail
  • Managing the economy

A2 Economics Year includes:

  • Business economics
  • The global economy

Entry requirements

You must have a keen interest in economic issues and UK and world current affairs.

Assessment

100% examination in both AS and A2

Future opportunities

Many students go on to study Economics at university or go into areas such as Business, Management, Finance or Accountancy. Economics is a popular component of nonbusiness degrees e.g. as an option in a languages or engineering degree. Economics complements any combination of subjects within college.
