English GCSE at Abingdon and Witney College
The qualification is AQA GCSE English Language which involves developing skills in speaking and listening, reading and writing. There is one short reading text in the year and the main focus is on developing your skills around contemporary issues. There
are a number of controlled assessments over the year which are in-class assessments completed under exam conditions plus a final exam in May.
Applications for this course are welcomed but you will be asked to complete an initial assessment, the outcome of which will determine your suitability for this course or you will be advised of an alternative course instead.
You will be required to undertake an initial assessment on the first evening of the course. It is dependent on your result whether or not you will be able to join the GCSE group or if you will be advised to attend the pre-GCSE. Your tutor will be able to give you more information following the assessment
