ICT BTEC Level 3 at Shire Oak Academy

Course description

This course is designed to equip you with all the knowledge and skills you will need to embark on a career in ICT, or so you can use ICT effectively in any other job.

Course content

The course looks at Information Technology Systems, Creating Systems to Manage Information and Using Social Media in Business before branching out to option units. The course is divided into 4 units. Of these 2 are completed in Year 12, one via coursework, another via an externally assessed task. A third unit is studied in Y12 and 13 and is examined in January of Y13. The final unit is undertaken in Y13 and is assessed via coursework.

Entry requirements

Five GCSE Grades at C or above are a minimum requirement for this course. Students should also have a strong interest in working in all aspects of ICT and a mature attitude to work.

Future opportunities

This course will provide a range of openings for employment in the ICT-related sector or progression to a wide range of ICT-related university courses. It will also be invaluable and a real tool with which to sell yourself to any employee.
