Psychology at Heston Community School

Course description

Psychology involves the study of mind and behaviour. This course requires good use of written English, an understanding of scientific method and some knowledge of statistical techniques.

Course content

Paper 1: Introductory topics in psychology.

Paper 2: Psychology in context.

Paper 3: Issues and options in psychology.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved a Grade 5 in English and Mathematics and an Attainment 8 GCSE score of 46 in the remaining subjects.  In addition to this minimum entry requirement, it is preferable for students to have achieved at least GCSE Grade 6 in any subject that they intend to study at A level.  Where courses are oversubscribed, students’ Attainment 8 GCSE score, English and Mathematics grades will be used to allocate places.

Duration:  2 years                      Board: AQA                   Assessment:  Examination

Future opportunities

Any professional, administrative or managerial position such as Lawyer, Accountant, Museum or Research Work, Teaching and Lecturing, Financial Services, Social Work, Educational or Occupational Psychology, Criminology and Medicine.
