Course description

What will I learn on this course?

You will develop skills in a range of different areas of science that will prepare you to work in the scientific field. This will include practical skills and analysis, communication of scientific information, laboratory information management, health and safety in the workplace and research skills.

How will I be assessed?

You will build a portfolio of assignments that are relevant to the science sector. These assignments require you to evidence your practical skills and knowledge. Evidence could be provided through observation, video recordings, photographs, written work and other documentation. The work will be assessed by your teacher, internally moderated and then externally verified by Edexcel to ensure national standards are met.

Entry requirements

For the level 3 Certificate you should ideally have either a merit in level 2 BTEC Applied Science or a grade C or above in Core and/or Additional Science or grade C in Biology, Chemistry and Physics GCSE.

For the level 3 Subsidiary Diploma you should have successfully completed the level 3 Certificate.
