Nail Services (Level 3) at Central College Nottingham

Course description

The course is aimed at those wanting to pursue a career in Nail Technology. It is a thriving industry with great potential and a very popular course.

Course content

Mandatory units:

  • Monitor Procedures to Safely Control Work Operations
  • Enhance and Maintain Nails using UV Gel
  • Enhance and Maintain Nails using Liquid and Powder

Optional units will include some of the following:

  • Contribute to the Planning and Implementation of Promotional Activities
  • Contribute to the Financial Effectiveness of the Business
  • Develop a Range of Creative Nail Designs
  • Airbrush Designs for Nails
  • Prepare and Finish Nails Overlays using Electric Files
  • Enhance and Maintain Nails using Nail Wrap

English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.

Entry requirements

One of the following:

  • 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English Language and Maths*
  • A relevant Level 2 qualification including GCSE English Language and Maths* at grade A*-C

*If you do not have both GCSE English Language and Maths at A*-C, we may accept one of them at Grade D in addition to your 4 GCSEs at A*-C. Functional Skills may be accepted instead of GCSE English and/or Maths. Functional Skills Level 1 is equivalent to GCSE Grade D and Level 2 to GCSE Grade C.

Adults who are aged 19+ with relevant industry experience but without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.

Assessment

There is continuous assessment of each unit. Students present evidence of competence via practical observations and theory unit assessments.

Future opportunities

Progression can be in other creative courses such as Level 3 Make-up Artistry.

Further information

You will be required to purchase a kit and uniform. The uniform must be worn at all times at College. The kit costs approximately £250.00. Order forms will be provided for these at enrolment or at the start of the course. At enrolment you will also be required to pay £30 for a work package.

It also provides courses in Business and IT, ESOL, Foundation for Apprenticeships and Work, Horizons (LLDD), Health & Social Care and Science. The Centre is also the base for the College's large International provision.
