Leisure Management Advanced Apprenticeship at West Herts College

Course description

An ideal qualification if you are supervising staff in settings such as gyms, swimming pools, leisure centres, community sports facilities, caravan or holiday parks.

You should have a positive, motivating, can-do attitude and should be willing to work alone and as part of a team. You’ll need to show the ability to develop your outstanding managerial and customer services skills.

Course content

Core subjects include leadership, health and safety, customer service and managing your own development.

Specialist topics tailored to specific roles include: recruitment, project management, promoting equality and diversity, plus selling products and services and supporting efficient use of resources. You will also learn about employment rights and responsibilities.

Complementing practical experience in your workplace will be theory classes at College. In addition, you’ll develop your skills in English and maths.

Entry requirements

Employment at a suitable level - most employers ask for GCSEs in English and maths, but may have additional specific requirements.

Future opportunities

Higher education qualification such as a Higher National Diploma in Sport and Leisure Management and a host of related careers.
