Vehicle Inspection Diploma Level 1 at Colchester Institute

Course description

The Vehicle Inspection Diploma programme is designed for students wishing to enter into the repair side of the motor industry. It is aimed at those who do not work within the industry and wish to gain formal qualifications through a full-time programme of study.

The programme will provide the basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills required by potential vehicle technicians. Students successfully completing all units of study will have mastered the basic repair skills needed for work on various vehicle systems and have an understanding of the related technology. Assessment is based on external examinations with internal assessment of practical ability.

Practical skills and knowledge are delivered by demonstration and practical assignments in the workshop. Theoretical knowledge is delivered by classroom tuition, guided assignments, ILT, and personal study. In addition, you will study at least two Functional Skills in English, maths or ICT as part of your main programme.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs (grades D-G), including English and maths, and an interview.

Future opportunities

Further study and training to level 2 Service and Repair is recommended. Progression to an Apprenticeship programme is also an option.
