Aviation Operations (Swissport Academy) BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Epping Forest College

Course description

This one year BTEC level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Aviation Operations will provide you with the relevant skills required for you to work as Passenger Service Agent, Baggage Handler or Aircraft Dispatcher in an airport environment. This course is broadly equivalent to one GCE A Level.

Epping Forest College is the only college in and around London working in partnership withSwissport UK at Stansted Airport and one of the only 16 colleges in the UK offering this qualification.

Course content

Some of the units you will be studying including:

· The UK Aviation Industry

· Health & Safety in the Aviation Industry

· Customer Service in the Aviation Industry

· Ramp Handling

· Aircraft Dispatch

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade A*–C including English Language and Maths, or Merit at an appropriate Level 2 Diploma, including English Language and Maths at grade A*–C.


You will be assessed throughout the course by the following:

· Course work

· Role plays

· Termly Work Experience with Swissport UK

· 6 half day airport visits (Airside/landside)

· Educational visits (domestic/overseas)

Future opportunities

On completion of your course, you will be granted an interview with an opportunity to work for Swissport UK and move into employment with them at any of their UK based stations.

      Once you arrive at the College there is a free car park with over 250 spaces, 
      as well as designated areas for coaches and other large vehicles.


      Once on site you can have access to our catering facilities (subject to agreement) and a range of rooms, 
      from our Theatre, with 264 retractable seats, to a standard classroom.

      We also have full IT support, and can offer rooms with either Macs or PCs running the latest industry-standard software.
