Uniformed Public Services BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Basingstoke College of Technology

Course description

The course covers a wide range of subjects including:

  • Uniformed Public Services Employment
  • Public Service Skills
  • Career Planning for the Public Services
  • Adventurous Activities and Teamwork for the Public Services (this will include a one week residential visit to an appropriate outdoor activity centre)
  • Citizenship, the Individual and Society
  • Improving Health and Fitness for Entry to the Uniformed Public Services

 

Students will have the opportunity to visit a variety of public services and will also gain knowledge of the industry from a wide range of speakers.

Students may also choose to study for a GCSE to increase their qualifications, or to resit a previous GCSE subject to improve a grade. To enhance employment opportunities the course may also have additional qualifications built into the programme.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade D or above, including English and Maths.

Assessment

The course is continuously assessed with assignments, projects and case studies. Students will develop a responsible and co-operative approach to working on their own and in groups, using practical activities and presentations.

Financial information

If you are aged 16-18, tuition and registration fees are free. 
If you are aged 19 or over, tuition and registration fees are payable at the start of each year of study; please ask for details.
If you are aged 24 or over, you may be eligible for a Student Loan to assist with your fees; please ask for details.

Future opportunities

This course is a recognised route into a Level 3 Extended Diploma course. Students should aim for a merit or distinction grade at the end of the course to ensure progression.
