Providing Financial Services – Mortgage Advice Route Advanced Apprenticeship at Colchester Institute

Course description

This course is designed to give you the relevant training and education required to work within the financial services environment. It is aimed at those who are involved in financial services as their primary work activity and they will have an understanding of the functions and activities involved.

Course content

The course combines learning through practical and theory sessions at College teamed with work-based experience.

IFS School of Finance Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP®). Units include:

  • UK Financial Regulation
  • Mortgages
  • Assessment of Mortgage Advice and Knowledge

City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Providing Financial Services. Units include:

  • Complying with Regulations within the Financial Services Environment
  • Debt Repayment Monitoring
  • Payment Pocessing
  • Debt Collection Case Management (Pre-legal)
  • Banks and Building Societies
  • General Insurance
  • Life, Pensions and Investment
  • Financing and Credit

As part of the Apprenticeship framework you will also study Employment Rights and Responsibilities, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills, and Functional Skills Level 2/GCSEs in English and maths.

Entry requirements

Successful completion of a relevant level 2 qualification, or 5 GCSEs (grades A* – C) and work experience. Learners should be working in an appropriate financial services role. They will need to be committed to their study and be responsible for their own learning. Learners will be required to attend an interview with the work based learning team and be asked to complete basic skills assessments in literacy and numeracy. Learners on this course are required to be employed in a suitable work placement providing the required experience to gain the qualifications for their NVQ.
